The Origin of The Deafening Silence...

If you are interested in my work as Parker, then please head over to my channel here: jparkersound.bandcamp.com

The Deafening Silence was born out of a time of continuous personal problems that led to a period of uncontrollable insomnia. That's the only way I was able to have the time to create so many albums in such a short space of time. Over the last year, the overall sound and messages of the project has remained fundamentally the same. It has however evolved. And as my mental health and sleep got better, so did (in my opinion) the standard of the recordings and compositions as I now have the concentration to be able to fully realise what I want to do and what I want to express.

But if we were to just focus on the sound itself, I had been wanting to experiment with this idea for quite sometime and had never found the time or motivation to get it off the ground. I have obviously been creating music under the name Parker for quite a few years now and shall continue to do so. My work as Parker has always been the same idea which is usually to retain a Post Rock sound primarily but experiment with all types of electronic music throughout. These electronic elements ranged from Synthwave/Retrowave, Berlin School, Krautrock, and Minimal Ambient Electronica. As I was making this music and experimenting with all these styles, at somepoint I realised that I was using primarily retro or older sounds even if i wasnt particularly using Retrowave. Upon realising this, something strange happened. My music, when composing, started to split subconsciously into two groups. Those groups being Post Rock with modern Synthesizers, and Post Rock with Retro Synths. The result of this was the Parker album 'Patchworks 2.0'. A total 50/50 combination of Post Rock and Retrowave. This album directly inspired me to go the complete other way with my next project and make Post Rock music with completely modern Synthesizers. Primarily modern Moog Synthesizers and my Korg Minilogue XD. When my insomnia hit its worst peak last year, The Deafening Silence was born.

It was a year yesterday since the release of 'Patchworks 2.0' and in celebration of both this and The Deafening Silence project as a whole, I decided to release this little EP/mini album collecting what I feel are the Parker tracks that directly led to the sound of The Deafening Silence. Tracks that I vividly remember composing and experimenting with in order to create Post Rock with an emphasis on Synthesizers. Some of these tracks were debuted on my YouTube channel as Post Rock using the Synthesizer as the primary lead instrument. Whereas others are full album tracks with more of a balance between the two styles.

Enjoy x...
